Week-end in Friuli Venezia Giulia (ITALY)

DAY 1: AQUILEIA
Depart from Ronchi Airport. With our coach and guide to Aquileia, Roman
colony founded in 180 / 181 B.C., the capital of X Augustan region and
metropolis of the Christian Church. Visit the Roman Forum, the remains
of the ancient Roman port, the Basilica. Afterwards visit a local winery
followed by the 1° guided tasting of some native Friulian wine. At the
end, transfer to our hotel. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 2: PALMANOVA – CIVIDALE DEL FRIULI –
CORMONS – GORIZIA
After breakfast departure to Palmanova and visit a fortress – town
founded by the Venetians in 1953.
Afterwards we will proceed to Cividale del Friuli, the Forum Iulii
founded by Giulio Cesare around 50 B.C.,
visit a local winery followed by the 2° guided tasting of some native
Friulian wines in combination a regional products.
Lunch in a typical restaurant with local dishes. Continue to Cormons,
characteristic little town at the foot of Monte Quarin in Friuli Venezia
Giulia and renowned for its wines and fruit. Visit a local winery,
around which is planted the Vineyard of the World (in Italian: Vigna del
Mondo), with over four hundred varieties of vine from the five
continents.
The fruit is harvested together to produce the Wine of Pace
(in Italian: Vino della Pace), which in sent every year to heads of
taste all over the world as an invitation to peace and brotherhood.
Afterwards enjoy an excursion through the terraced vineyard, stopping to
admire the panorama. Afterwards your coach will take to Gorizia and tour
the city.
On a city tour we will get to know several sights the Castle and the
beauty of the historic centre.
At the end transfer to our hotel. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 3: PASSARIANO
After breakfast departure to Passariano, wonderful tour the exterior of
Villa Manin a magnificent sixteenth – century Venetian Villa. It was the
last residence in Friuli of the doges of Venice and headquarters of the
French troupes during the Italian Campaign Napoleon in 1797. Afterwards
we will proceed to visit a local winery followed by the last tasting of
some native Friulian wine in combination a lunch with local dishes.
At the end we will proceed to Triest/Ronchi Airport on time for your
flight departure.
